Text extraction works best on straightforward, text-based PDFs — reports, letters, articles. It does not reconstruct tables, multi-column layouts, or exact fonts, and it cannot recover text from scanned or image-only PDFs, since there's no underlying text layer to extract in that case. This is a limitation of text-extraction conversion generally, not specific to this tool.

- Will this work on a scanned PDF?
- No — scanned or image-only PDFs have no extractable text layer, so text-extraction conversion can't recover anything from them. You'd need an OCR tool first.
- Will tables and columns be preserved?
- Not reliably. This method extracts text line by line, so complex layouts like tables and multi-column text won't be reconstructed. Try the optional server-based conversion for better results on complex documents.
