iPhones save photos in HEIC format by default, which offers smaller file sizes than JPG but isn't fully supported everywhere — many websites, older devices, and some Windows or Android apps can't open HEIC files directly. This tool decodes the HEIC image and re-encodes it as a standard JPG entirely on your device, so it works even with personal photos you'd rather not upload anywhere.
The conversion preserves the image itself at high quality — only the file format changes, not the photo's resolution or appearance. This is the same underlying decoding technology used by several other HEIC converters, running locally instead of on a server.
